Senior AWS Operations Engineer – CLOSED

For our customer, a software company in Copenhagen which is moving their solutions to the cloud, we are looking for an Amazon web services expert. The role will encompass the use of a broad range of AWS technologies (Glue, Athena, Redshift, SageMaker, Organizations), operating systems (Windows, Linux) and application environments (Spark, Cassandra, Redis), with an emphasis on the implementation of best practice cloud security principles.

The right person will be  responsible for deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting and improving the systems to keep the backend infrastructure running smoothly. We are looking for a hands-on technical expert with a can-do approach towards environment management.

Responsibilities 

  • Deploying, automating, maintaining and managing AWS cloud based production system, to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of productions systems.
  • Build, release and configuration management of production systems.
  • Pre-production Acceptance Testing to help assure the quality of our services.
  • System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains.
  • Suggest architecture and process improvements.
  • Evaluate new technology options and vendor products.
  • Ensuring critical system security through the use of best in class cloud security solutions.
  • Some international travel may be required from time to time.

Professional Competencies

  • 2+ years experience with using a broad range of AWS technologies to develop and maintain an Amazon AWS based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice cloud security.
  • Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24×7 uptime Amazon AWS environment – including automation experience with configuration management tools.
  • Strong scripting (e.g. Python) and automation skills.
  • Linux system administration.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

  • Python and Java
  • Basic DB administration experience (Cassandra, …).
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience administrating version control systems such as Git and SVN.
  • Understanding network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, and SMTP).
  • Sc. in Computer Science or other equivalent technical discipline.
